Annual Yearlist Challenge
Since 2009 the Fylde Bird Club has organised an annual yearlist competition, the aim being to see or hear the most species within the Fylde recording area in one calander year. Between 2009 and 2019 a total of twenty-six Fylde Bird Club members have competed for the Yearlist Challenge trophy, with the list record being held by Len Blacow with his massive 210 species accumulated in 2011. The comparative league was introduced in 2018 to see which competitior manages to best their previous year's score by the biggest margin. No competition was held between 2020 and 2022 due to the covid-19 pandemic and associated travel restrictions.
