In recent years Water / British Rock / Scandinavian Rock Pipits have been found to be present in late autumn, winter and spring in the Fylde on the salt marshes of the Ribble Estuary, Wyre Estuary and Lune Estuary. Invariably the best opportunity to see these pipits is over the highest spring tides when the salt marshes flood and the birds become displaced to feed amongst the floating detritus. The south end of Bank Lane, Warton Bank has proved to be an excellent viewpoint.

The identity of these birds has proved contentious and so in an attempt to document the appearance of these birds a gallery of images has been created. Each image has been captioned by the photographer.
