Works 1973), Hawfinch (Lytham 1953), Honey-buzzard (Warton Marsh 2008)
and Corncrake. Maurice's most notable omissions are Savi's Warbler,
Whiskered Tern, American Golden Plover, Caspian Gull and Bee-eater.

Mere 2008), Corncrake (Marton Mere 1996), Caspian Gull (Skippool Creek
2010), Sooty Shearwater (Starr Gate 2009) and Savi's Warbler (Marton
Mere 1995). Paul's most notable omissions are Hobby, Broad-billed
Sandpiper, Roseate Tern, Great Northern Diver and Red-crested Pochard.

The most wanted species
Of the 318 species on the Fylde list there are twenty that have not been
seen by anyone on the ranking, including fourteen species not recorded
for over thirty years: Melodious Warbler (1972), Purple Heron (1970),
Nutcracker (1968), Crested Tit (1964), Nightingale (1965), Gull-billed
Tern (1955), Black-eared Wheatear (1940), Black-winged Stilt (1928),
Great Snipe (1917), Red Grouse (c1899), Pallas's Sandgrouse (1888),
White-tailed Eagle (1875), Sociable Plover (1860s) and Little Bustard
(1858), and one - Macaronesian Shearwater (1975) - that was dead when it
was found. The remaining five species that have eluded all the Fylde
birders listed on the ranking are Golden Oriole (2000), Nightjar (1999),
Icterine Warbler (1998), Tawny Pipit (1985) and Roller (1982).
