Next year the Fylde Bird Club will stage the Yearlist Challenge 2009.

It is hoped that all Fylde Bird Club members will take part, and join in some friendly competition between local birders. If nothing else, it will hopefully encourage people to get out and about in the local area - who knows, when searching coastal scrub for that all important Redstart in late April, the Bluethroat might be just around the corner...

The rules are simple - between 1st January-31st December 2009 entrants must try to record as many species as possible within the Fylde Recording Area. The person to have seen or heard the most species will be the winner.

BOU taxonomy will be used during the competition.

To ensure that all entrants have an equally fair chance to see rare and scarce species during the competition, please continue to send all relevant bird news to Rare Bird Alert: - phone 02070-382820 or email news@rarebirdalert.co.uk.

To take part please email news@fyldebirdclub.org to signup before 31st December 2008, then during the 2009 please email your yearlist updates as regularly as possible - each entrant's list will be displayed on this page.
